GhostMail Shuts Down, Says “the World Has Changed for the Worse”
Security Update : GhostMail, an encrypted chat and email service based in Switzerland, has announced it is closing operations for normal users on September 1, 2016, so it could focus on the enterprise market.
While this is not anything out of the ordinary, since companies often shift business focus based on their clients, the wording in GhostMail’s announcement has made many take notice of their change in operations.
The company called their move to the enterprise sector a “strategic decision,” mainly because “the world has changed for the worse” and they don’t “want to take the risk of supplying our extremely secure service to the wrong people.”
What GhostMail’s owners might actually be saying between the lines is that they’re not fully comfortable with criminals using their network to commit crimes.
